Employees of Skyline Living, part of the Skyline Group of Companies, planted over 100 native trees and shrubs at Denne Park today with the support of Tree Canada and Otonabee Conservation. This planting is part of ongoing efforts to enhance habitat and increase biodiversity in the City of Peterborough.
“When we undertake stewardship projects like this with community partners, the entire watershed benefits,” explained Janette Loveys Smith, CAO/Secretary-Treasurer at Otonabee Conservation, “We are grateful for Skyline’s participation in this habitat enhancement and tree planting project that contributes to our community’s collective local climate change efforts.”

Skyline employees planted trees and shrubs around the perimeter of Denne Park to create a diverse buffer that will further enhance the park and maintain open areas for active recreation. The variety of native species including Bur Oak, White Birch, White Spruce, Staghorn Sumac, and Fragrant Sumac will create habitat for local wildlife, create shade, protect biodiversity, and help to mitigate climate change.
“Skyline Living is committed to reducing our environmental footprint in the communities that we operate. I am pleased that our employees recognize that they can have a positive impact to the planet; planting trees may seem like a small thing, but it holds significant potential for the entire community.”
BJ Santavy, Vice President, Skyline Living
“We are grateful to Skyline Living for its commitment to enhancing the environment in Peterborough,” said Nicole Hurtubise, Chief Executive Officer at Tree Canada, “By getting their hands dirty and planting trees, Skyline Living employees are helping to build a more resilient ecosystem that will provide countless benefits to local residents and wildlife for years to come.”
