Members of the public are asked to obey all Otonabee Conservation trail and property closures during storm clean up, which is ongoing.
A significant wind event in May caused a great amount of damage throughout the Region. Some of Otonabee Conservation’s (ORCA) Conservation Areas (CAs) experienced infrastructure damage, fallen trees and limbs, and power outages.
Hydro, internet, and water systems have been restored. Our staff are still assessing hazards and damage, remediating trails, and clearing downed trees at some sites and on some trails.
Until safe conditions are secured, residents and visitors are asked to check the status of closures at the Conservation Areas and trails listed below, before attending and to obey all posted signs including closures of properties and trails.
Members of the public are NOT to be clearing trails on their own; this work will be done solely by ORCA staff and approved contractors only, as conditions are not safe. Please do not enter any trail or property that is posted as CLOSED.
As of September 15, 2022 the following ORCA properties have trail closures in place:
| Warsaw Caves CA | The Caves and Caves Trail are open with some detours in place. The Lookout Trail is open. The Limestone Plains Trail is open with some sections CLOSED. |
| Harold Town CA | All trails are now open. |
| Jackson Creek Trail | Open and clear. Trail will close from Oct. 11 – Dec. 16 for trail upgrades. Read more about closures and detours. |
| Miller Creek Wildlife Area | Access to observation tower is open; loop trail is CLOSED. |
| Sawer Creek Wildlife Area | All trails are CLOSED. |
| Youngs Point CA | All trails are CLOSED. |
