Discovery Days at Beavermead Campground July 7

Otonabee Conservation is pleased to offer the Discovery Days series of family-friendly explorations and activities featuring our natural environment. Be sure to have your Discovery Days Passport stamped by event staff!

On Saturday, July 7, 2018, the following activities are offered at Beavermead Campground ~ Enjoy!

10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.

Outdoor Yoga – bring your own mat or towel

 

10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon

Learn to Fish – a two-hour program that teaches children and adults alike how to fish. Learn to set up a fishing rod, cast a line, handle fish and Ontario’s fishing regulations. The Ontario Government has designated June 30-July 8, 2018 (12:01 a.m. Saturday to 11:59 p.m. Sunday) as license-free . During all other time periods, Canadian residents between the ages of 18 and 64 years must purchase a valid fishing license to legally fish in Ontario.

 

1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Turtles of Ontario – Learn about local turtle species and meet live turtles during this interactive presentation from the Ontario Turtle Conservation Centre.

 

 

 

3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Guided Paddling Tour of Little Lake – Bring your own canoe or kayak or rent one from the campground and join Otonabee Conservation staff for a guided tour by water of Meade Creek and Little Lake. Learn about local wildlife species, natural history and community culture.

 

8:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.

Campfire – meet at the Group Camp area for a campfire under the stars

 

8:45 p.m. – 9:45 p.m.

Bat Walk – Are you interested in the nocturnal antics of local bat species? Join local bat experts for a night walk to learn about bat species, their behavior and habitat.
