Attention Parents! Does your child enjoy photography? Does your child enjoy nature? Is your child eager to exercise their skills while learning in a fun and positive environment? We have the perfect opportunity for you!
The Riverview Park & Zoo (RPZ) and Otonabee Conservation are pleased to announce that we have teamed up to bring you The Bondar Challenge again this summer.
The Bondar Challenge is a two-day program developed by The Roberta Bondar Foundation that teaches youth about their natural environment through the art of photography. Over the course of two days, participants will learn their way around a digital camera and will learn a variety of photography techniques, ranging from basic to advanced. Participants will then have the opportunity to apply their new skills as they explore the scenic environments of RPZ and Beavermead Park or the Warsaw Caves Conservation Area.
At the end of this program, participants will choose their best photograph and submit it to The Roberta Bondar Foundation. A panel of judges will evaluate entries from youth from across Canada and will select winning photographs for the summer of 2019. Winners will have their photograph featured on The Roberta Bondar Foundation’s website and will be awarded a variety of prizes.
This year, we have developed an advanced one-day course that is intended for those who have participated in The Bondar Challenge in previous years or have photography experience. The day is spent at either Beavermead Park or the Warsaw Caves Conservation Area where participants explore more advanced photography techniques and enter their chosen photograph into a higher level of the contest.
Registration for The Bondar Challenge is open for youth ages 9-15. You can register at RPZ’s Guest Services, open 9am-4pm daily. Cameras will be provided and no photography experience is required. For more information, please visit the Riverview Park & Zoo’s website and Facebook page.
