60th Anniversary Celebration

The Otonabee Region Conservation Authority marked its 60th anniversary of with a Celebratory Event  on Thursday, June 6th at Northview Gardens in Selwyn.

Andy Mitchell, Chair of the Board, welcomed Drew Monkman, Naturalist and Writer, as keynote speaker and special Excellence Awards were presented to Jacob Rodenburg, Executive Director of Camp Kawartha, The Friends of Hope Mill and the Otonabee Region Conservation Foundation.

As Chair Mitchell remaked, “In our 60th anniversary year we honor those who have made significant contributions to a legacy which will benefit community members for many more years to come.”

A silent auction featured unique items that reflect the individual municipalities that form the watershed region of Otonabee Conservation. “The funds raised will help establish a new grant intended to support the environmental aspirations of youth pursuing post-secondary education,” explained Mitchell.

Light refreshments and musical entertainment completed the anniversary program.
